Local Information

The conference will be held in conference rooms 120/121 of the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex, Falmer (near Brighton), UK. A map of the campus is available here (click on the map to zoom), with IDS, the train station, and the bus stop circled in red. The conference will be sign-posted from both Falmer train station (on campus) and bus stop (on campus).

See this for a great birds-eye view of the campus, and its location with respect to Brighton and Lewes (place of dinner).

How to get there

The University of Sussex is located at Falmer on the outskirts of Brighton, within easy reach of London and major international airports at Gatwick and Heathrow (see this map for an overview). Participants should be aware that flying into Gatwick is by far the most convenient option if air travel is needed.

Participants arriving from overseas should consult the following link.
Participants travelling from the UK should consult the following link.

Where to stay

There is plenty of affordable accommodation in nearby Brighton. Please see the accommodation pages of the Virtual Brighton & Hove website, or refer to the University's list of approved hotels.
Please be aware that there is a major event in Brighton at the week-end, and it will be extremely difficult to find any form of accommodation in Brighton, nevermind a cheap one.
Student accommodations are on campus. Details will be provided to those who request this option.

Where to eat

A list of restaurants will be included in your conference pack.
