Gallery 1 is the main control room for the facility. The gallery is used for producing both live shows and pre-recorded performances. Students have the opportunity to investigate the technology and even produce new technology as part of their final year project.

The gallery can handle 14 independent video channels, which appear on the large bank of monitors. Custom software has been created at the University of Sussex to provide tapeless, automated playback of video packages.

Digital video mixing equipment allows for the live production of complex on-screen effects, either for in-vision monitors or for program output.
