Anna Dumitriu (University of Sussex)
Anna will be taking the HCT seminar on Friday November 16th and she has asked us to pass on this message:
As part of the InQbate session I've been asked to run I would like you to participate in the making of a new artwork. Often my work is involved with changing real world spaces or making artistic interventions, and often aspects of technology are central to the process or the outcome. One of the dictionary definitions of 'intervention' is 'an action taken to improve a situation', in terms of creating an artwork that can mean creating multiple poetic meanings by making slight changes in your environment or creating a situation that causes people to interact in new ways. This could involve inviting a cafe worker on campus to respond to requests for coffee in a new way for 3 minutes, hiding something, drawing something, sending a message that provokes some kind of reaction and so on. I would like you to make an intervention, either on campus or ideally off campus (even in another city if that is convenient) and bring a digital file either on a usb memory stick or CD, recording that intervention, to the meeting. Please also write up to 20 words of text relating in some way to your intervention.
