These notes, dated 1995a and 1995b in the main bibliography (SECTION C), have rather different content and purposes. The first is a rejoinder to a long, if sporadic, debate about the origin of the name of Othello, and the second is a mere antiquarian note about a famous and controversial place-name as used in King Lear.
