An
experienced user experience/HCI consultant & executive coach :
Prior to joining
Sussex, I worked in
industry for a number of years as a user experience consultant with Sapient in London
, working with a range
of government and commercial clients eg from financial, healthcare, travel
sectors. I have also conducted a number of other consultancies
in both the UK and Australia
around people and technology and in both business and
healthcare contexts. I have been expert advisor on the Work Foundation iSociety project and on the Work Foundation advisory
board, and for the Royal Society (Public Workshops: Cybertrust
and Information Security). I also have extensive clinical and management experience working
in the healthcare sector.
Consultancy areas:
I consult in areas of user-centred design,
interaction design, ethnographic/user/workplace studies, usability testing,
evaluation of new or existing technologies, and literature reviews and
surveys of state of the art.
I understand how to engage with
clients and users and how to deliver business value in a fast-moving
time- and resource-constrained environment. I look at technology in the
total context of its use.
I am particularly
able to mentor teams and
deliver training courses
in any of the above areas.
A recent consultancy was for the UK
Dept of Health undertaking a review of technologies to support self care. The full report is available in
three parts from the Dept of Health self-care site.
I am also a Results-trained executive and life coach with a particular focus on supporting people in the university sector to achieve their full potential as leaders, managers, project investigators, phd supervisors, researchers.
