Introduction
The VAST system is an experimental exam timetabling application. It is made up of two screens the Instance View and the Solution View.
- The Instance View is used for selecting exams to put into the timetable
- The Solution View shows the timetable you have created
The Instance View
When the application starts you should see the Instance View like this:
- You can change between the Instance and Solution views by clicking on these tabs (Try it now!)
- The toolbar contains all the controls you will use. Try zooming in and out now...
- Each exam is represented as a coloured rectangle. The dimensions and colours will be explained later.
