STAGE - Scripting Through Acting in Game authoring Environments

Our research programme is related to exploring the feasibility and potential of embodied interaction in educational applications, specifically in authoring environments that enable young people to build computer games.

There is a need to motivate young learners to study computing subjects by improving the perception of computing. One route to engaging learners with computing is through computer games. It has been suggested that gaming opens a door to computer literacy, which might lead to potential technology careers.

By offering young learners the opportunity to make games through novel, embodied interfaces, we hope to awake their interest in the underlying, abstract challenges of computer programming.
