Welcome
The eMove project is a Technology Strategy Board Creative Industries: Digital Technologies research collaboration project between Animazoo UK and the University of Sussex: Centre for Computer Graphics. The focus of eMove is to develop an upper body inertial Personal Motion Capture System for online consumer level and other markets including, but not limited to: online live animation systems, online gaming such as MMO-FPS, MMO-RTS, MMO-RPG, and one-on-one gaming, online advertising, theme parks, education … and so on. The key to success in these consumer level markets is our aggressive development schedule (24 months from project start to product implementation, see the project plan on our Wiki) and our consumer level pricing, which will see a 7 joint (17 axis sensors for motion tracking of the upper body) with integrated 2 joysticks (for game play control and event triggering) retailing for around $300. How can this be done?
Animazoo UK, a world leader with 15 year experience in sophisticated whole-body motion capture systems for the professional animation and film industry, will exploit advanced microprocessor, PCB engineering, motion sensor technologies and assembly techniques to build our innovative, simplified, reduced form factor, upper body inertial motion capture system priced within the consumer market range—a world first.
Centre for Computer Graphics will develop innovative software to operate this motion capture (or animation) system over the internet; including demonstration applications and an SDK (software developer's kit) to allow easy exploitation of eMove in several different creative industry markets. Our objective is to bring on-line real-time animation (through motion capture) to mass consumer and business markets, e.g. video gaming, education advertising, exhibition displays, theme parks, etc. using the internet for remote multi-participant interaction.
