The activate.d reading group is based in the University of Sussex and it was founded by researchers at the Centre for Computational Neuroscience and  Robotics.

The main objective of its creation was to promote the research on the dynamical systems approach to life and cognition. The workshop is meant to pursue this aim within the context of the 8th European Conference on Artificial Life.
