Human-Product Interaction from a Designer's Perspective

Friday 26 January 2007 (week 3)

I am a masters student studying 'Design for Interaction' at Delft University of Technology. Currently I am doing my graduation project at Microsoft Research in Cambridge. During my talk I will show you examples of projects I have done (amongst others 'Tangible music players for different personality types', 'Interactive tiles to randomly connect people' and my graduation project 'Home Altars- I should throw it away really...'). Furthermore I will talk about the methodologies I have used, both for research and for designing. I will also pay some attention to a project I have participated in on making 'Rich Visualisations' of research data to inspire designers. After my talk I think it would be interesting to discuss how we can come to a good middle ground between doing research and creating innovative designs.

I hope my talk will give you some insights on designing products with a focus on human product interaction and give you an idea how research data can be a starting point for making innovative designs. Come to my talk to find out more!
